Former skipper Zaheer Abbas has said the Pakistan team seems set for a one-day series win over Australia in UAE, but made it clear that they can't afford showing any complacency against the world champions.
''Having seen the opening one-dayer and that the Aussies are finding it impossible to deal with our spinners, it seems that we will go on to win this series,'' Zaheer told 'The News'.
''But in cricket things can change. My suggestion to Younis Khan and his men is to stay focused and bring consistency in their performance.
''You cannot win a series by playing well one day and then blowing it all away like we did in the one-day series against Sri Lanka,'' he said referring to Pakistan's humiliating losses against Sri Lanka in the last two games of the three-match series which they started by winning the first one comprehensively in Karachi.
On Wednesday, Pakistan drew first blood against Australia by recording a four-wicket win.
''I believe that the one thing our team needs the most is consistency,'' said Zaheer. ''If they acquire that quality I'm sure Pakistan can become one of the best teams in the world,'' he added.
Zaheer said that Younis should guard his team against any complacency. ''After we bowled Australia out so aggressively, our batsmen became a bit complacent, which made the job of winning the match a bit tough. I must say that such shows of complacency can affect our chances of winning the series.''
