Legally Blonde to get West End makeover

Legally Blonde, the hit Hollywood film, is coming to the West End.

The Broadway version will see Sheridan Smith - best known for playing Rich Tea biscuit loving Janet Keogh in the sitcom Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps - in the leading role.

The 27-year-old beauty will be dressed from top-to-toe in pink as she takes to the boards of the Savoy Theatre in December as Elle Woods, a fuzzy West Coast blonde who defies her hair colour to break into the legal profession and get her boyfriend back, reports The Telegraph.

Smith said of landing the part: "It's a dream come true. I can't believe I got it."

Despite being aimed squarely at teenage girls, she thought many middle-aged man would actually enjoy it.

"They will go along telling their wives and daughters, 'I don't want to go!' But secretly they will enjoy it."
