Celebrity Skin Care: Another Cause of Starstruck

The limelight of Hollywood celebrities truly flabbergasts fans. It causes an alluring influence to imitate what clothes they wear, foods they eat, statements or quotations they utter and skin care line they use.

Susan Boon, Ph.D., professor of psychology at the University of Calgary, and doctoral candidate Christine Lomore conducted a survey of 200 Canadian undergraduates about their attachment to celebrities. Initially they were asked whether they had ever tried to emulate the celebrity by dressing or behaving like them but they stated that in spite of their strong attractions to their idols, they were not inspired to change their own behaviour. However, results reversely mirrored that 60 percent of the respondents admitted that an idol had influenced their attitudes and personal values.

A specific instance of celebrity influence is the skin care line used by famed Hollywood artists and notable personalities. Dayna Devon, the Emmy award-winning American journalist for Best Live Broadcast and the co-anchor of Mark McGrath, of the television show Extra. Her appealing charisma as a media personality connects with the viewers. Many admitted that since Devon came, she gave Extra a new look.

Dayna Devon in 2005 had her first pregnancy. She revealed in Celebrity Parents the secret on dealing with pregnancy andskin care. It is known that skin care products may affect the development of the baby thus making mothers to worry what to use. However, Devon managed to still look fresh and radiant on-screen and off-screen.

"Almost immediately my skin began breaking out like I was in high school," Devon states. "I used a skin care line called Dermystique, which has an acne line that really helped. I use their lactic acid treatment plus a serious deep-cleaning facial every two weeks."

Like Dayna Devon, women should also observe which skin care line will suit their need whether its bio skin care, body skin care or pregnancy skin care. A celebrity skin care does not guarantee 100 percent effectiveness because it does depends on the unique skin types.
