Alyssa Milano: Give Women More Roles

Former child star Alyssa Milano has urged TV executives to focus more shows on women – insisting female-driven programmes enjoy longer success on the small screen.

Alyssa starred in Charmed for eight years after landing the role in 1998. And she is convinced that actresses in leading roles are the key to long-term success for TV projects – because female fans are the most loyal viewers. She says, “I think people connected to the sister relationships and women fans are the most loyal in the business. It’s absolutely true and it’s why most of the female-driven shows do well and last longer.” And there are business benefits too, she adds: “The women buy the most stuff so the networks can charge more for advertising.”

So true, Sista! Women do make good TV, even (or especially) when it’s Wrestling. Somebody please offer Alyssa a role.
